Congratulations to BH-BL Senior Samantha Scibelli for becoming a 2013 Intel STS Semi-Finalist for her project entitled “Census of Blue Stars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.” In her studies, Samantha has surveyed over 12,000 objects in the sky and reclassified them based on spectra and photo metric results. Samantha is currently enrolled in the Science Research program at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School taught by Mrs. Regina Reals.
Samantha also traveled to Long Beach, California to present her work at the 221st American Astronomical Society meeting. Samantha’s mentor is Dr. Heidi Newberg of RPI.
