BH-BL Senior is 2013 Intel STS Semi-Finalist

Congratulations to BH-BL Senior Samantha Scibelli for becoming a 2013 Intel STS Semi-Finalist for her project entitled “Census of Blue Stars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.” In her studies, Samantha has surveyed over 12,000 objects in the sky and reclassified them based on spectra and photo metric results. Samantha is currently enrolled in the Science Research program at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School taught by Mrs. Regina Reals.

Samantha also traveled to Long Beach, California to present her work at the 221st American Astronomical Society meeting. Samantha’s mentor is Dr. Heidi Newberg of RPI.

2013 marks the 225^th anniversary of the 1788 founding of the Town of Ballston. The Town Historian’s office needs help planning for a summer celebration. Want to help plan this event? Saratoga County RPC awarded $2,000

GCAR’s Community Outreach Fund awarded $2,000 to the Saratoga County RPC ( Rural Preservation Company). Located at 1214 Saratoga Rd, Ballston Spa, its mission is to provide housing opportunities for low income households and to serve the needs of homeless military veterans and to advocate for all military veterans.

GCARCOF’s mission statement is to promote GCAR and its membership as good community citizens by making financial contributions to local charitable groups which are housing oriented or whose purpose is to make our area a better place to live. Gifts are usually between $500-$2,500 and amounts are determined by the Community Outreach committee.

Team Purdy at Hero Rush 2012

Team Purdy led by fearless leader and Realtor Bridget Malagisi, was out in full force for Hero Rush 2012 held at Ellms Farm on September 8, 2012 in Charlton. The team came in 3rd overall with two of the teams females coming in 1st and 3rd.

Hero Rush is a proud supporter of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, our national charity. The Foundation offers significant support programs for the families and fire departments of America’s fallen firefighters, and also works proactively to prevent line-of-duty deaths.

Hero Rush gives you the chance to put your mettle to the test. Team Purdy ran an intense 5k+ race with multiple fire-related obstacles. Climbed ladders and slid down poles, crawled through windows and had to break down doors, scramble through HAZMAT slime and locate trapped victims they even had fire hoses turned on them!

2012 Burnt Hills Flag Day Parade

More than 80 bands, floats, clubs, teams, local businesses, fire trucks, churches & scout troops marched south on Route 50 from Kingsley Road & Burnt Hills Lanes as far as Country Acres. Purdy Realty was there handing out our ballons and greeting parade goers! Check out Team Purdy in action!
